Julia Chapman
Chief Operating Officer
A Chartered Accountant who qualified with KPMG in Leeds, Julia joined their specialist
Business Services team and spent seven years providing accountancy, audit, personal
and business tax, and finance raising advice to SMEs in the West and North Yorkshire
region.
She then worked for the property development subsidiary of Asda Stores Limited,
based in the Midlands. After nine years, the last five as Finance Director and
Company Secretary, she left to complete an MBA at Bradford University School of
Management.

John Watson (Chairman)
John Watson is a link between Business Angels and companies requiring private
equity capital. He is a former President of the Yorkshire and Humber Chambers
of Commerce.
Martin Hathaway (Deputy Chairman)
Martin is a businessman with ten years' experience of providing support to businesses
in Yorkshire.
David Horsman
West Yorkshire Solicitor and Notary, David has been involved with organisations
supporting SMEs for the last twenty years, including MYCCI, West Yorkshire Enterprise
Agency, Calderdale Business Trust, Action Halifax and Business Link West Yorkshire.
Alex McWhirter
Alex McWhirter is Chief Executive at Finance Yorkshire Limited. He was previously
Assistant Director of Business at Yorkshire Forward where he was responsible for
Selective Finance for Investment in England and wasthe main RDA linkage with the
Regional Venture Capital Funds.
Jim Farmery
Jim Farmery is Director of Projects and Programmes at Yorkshire Forward.
