Fund backs marketing drive for IT Direct UK

THE COMPANY

IT Direct UK was launched in April 2005 by Dylan Sunter to provide a range of IT services for small-to-medium sized companies.

The company aims to help companies that do not have their own in-house IT support service. Based at the Unity Business Centre, Roundhay, Leeds, the company currently serves clients in Yorkshire including new media, marketing and advertising agencies, property developers and management consultants.

Said Mr Sunter: “We provide small companies that don’t have dedicated IT resources with a virtual IT function to support the smooth running of their businesses.

THE CHALLENGE

For a new company Mr Sunter’s major challenge was to quickly raise the profile of the fledgling company among potential clients in the local and national market.

To that end he drew up a business and marketing plan and approached Partnership Investment Fund. “I talked through my plans for IT Direct UK with managers at Partnership Investment Finance and they offered some advice on how I could improve my business,” said Mr Sunter.

He now had a more compelling business proposition and staged plan for controlled growth of IT Direct UK.

THE SOLUTION

In the event Partnership Investment Finance invested a £30,000 small loan in Mr Sunter’s business both to fund on-going marketing but also invest in new equipment.

Mr Sunter said: “The funding will enable us to fulfil the next stage of our business plan by acquiring equipment and upgrading our marketing activities. Our vision is to become a market leader through an innovative mix of traditional IT and creative thinking to help small businesses get the most from their computer systems.”

Dr Jon Harris, Chief Executive of Partnership Investment Fund Limited, said: ”This is a good example of how our Small Loans Fund can help an enterprise in the early stages of its development. IT Direct UK has a sound business plan and operates in a sector with good potential for future growth and success.”
